The finalists for the 2011 Ethnic Business Awards have been announced and the candidates are as varied as the diverse communities in Australia.
The candidates for this year, showcase "real life examples of the great Australian story - hard work, enterprise and innovation overcoming hurdles and achieving business success," said awards founder Joseph Assaf. The Ethnic Business Award are in their 23rd year and are Australia's longest running awards recognising diversity in business.
They recognise Australians from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds who have achieved success in business in two core categories: small business and medium to large business. A third category exists for Indigenous Australians making their mark in business. The award winners will share in cash and prizes, including $10,000 for the individual category winners from founding partner the National Australia Bank. Neos Kosmos is also a major sponsor of this event.
Joseph Healy, group executive, NAB, said the bank is proud to support the awards. "Migrant businesses play a vital role in the community and make an important contribution to the Australian economy," he said. "NAB is delighted to once again be celebrating their achievements through these awards." The Ethnic Business Awards gala event and award ceremony will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney on Monday 7 November.
