Greek Australian director Sotiris Dounoukos’ newest short film will be screened as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival’s (MIFF) international shorts event this Sunday.

The Greek, Australian and French produced film, A Single Body follows two slaughterhouse workers whose dream of starting their own business is threatened by a new worker.

Dounoukos is no stranger to MIFF, with his films Punch (2007) and Paper and Sand (2006) being shown at the festival.

Another Greek short, Xenos, directed by Mahdi Fleifel, was shown this week to Melbourne audiences. The film follows what has happened to the director’s friend, Abu Eyad, since fleeing from Lebanon through to Greece.

Miss Violence, the critically acclaimed film by Greek director Alexandros Avranas (Greece, 2013), will screen on Monday 11 August at 6.45 pm.
