The newly formed group Oxymoron – Nick Sousamidis and Tasoula Kallenou – has begun its journey of creating cultural events with the aim of bringing together Australian audiences through Greek music, theatre, books, cinema, photography and various other methods of the arts.

The need for these newly arrived immigrants to express themselves artistically has resulted in the creation of Oxymoron, whose motivation of presenting original ideas in a format yet to be seen by the public in Australia has led to the production of A Tribute to Manos Hadjidakis.

“Our aim is not purely to produce an event that appeals to Greeks and Philhellenes alike, but to present Greek culture from a different perspective and using a unique approach,” said Sousamidis.

Presented as part of the 32nd Greek Festival of Sydney, the first project by Oxymoron is complete and it is sure to be a major cultural event in this year’s festival program.

“It’s wonderful to be embraced by the Greek Festival of Sydney and the Greek Community of NSW, who have so generously and with great joy selected to support our efforts and believe in the quality of the performance that will be delivered,” said Sousamidis.

A Tribute to Hadjidakis will be held at Factory Theatre 12th April at 8pm. A Tribute to Hadjidakis is an event of the 32nd Greek Festival of Sydney proudly presented by Delphi Bank. Tickets on sale now: (02) 9550 3666 or www.factorytheatre.com.au or www.greekfestivalofsydney.com.au
