Australian Molly Taylor has been crowned the number one female rally driver in Europe. The 25-year-old from Sydney battled through a number of mechanical problems with her Citroen DS3 R3T to finish second at Rally Croatia on Sunday and secure enough points to win the inaugural European Rally Championship (ERC) Ladies Trophy.

Taylor and her British co-driver Sebastian Marshall endured a dramatic race in Croatia after a broken steering rack threatened to put them out of contention and almost passing out at the end of stage four after fuel vapours from a misfiring fuel pump poured into the cockpit.

Taylor, who moved to Italy earlier this year to be closer to her team, has now set her sights on the two-wheel-drive category in the 2014 European Rally Championship.
