The end of year season of MerakiTV is set to air on Monday. Producers and crew have their sights set on building on last year’s success, with the show having won two multicultural media awards.

“This season will see us building even more on our previous seasons,” executive producer Ana Sevo told Neos Kosmos.

“In amongst the music, gossip, community and current affairs we’ve extended the Kids Corner segment hosted and driven by an adorable group of youngsters who are relishing being on TV.”

Connecting with families and children has been one of the key elements of the show in recent years, and this season will see the launch of the Greek School Christmas Competition.

It is open to all primary school aged children enrolled in Greek school, and commences with a colouring competition for Year 1 students. Each year level will have a different category and theme to adhere to, with entries open until 24 November.

The essence of any community program is usually its ability to connect with the audience, and MerakiTV has had a positive response so far. The program includes Glitz and Goss with Stavroula, the latest tunes and tours with renowned Greek DJ Krazy Kon, and there is no shortage of delicious moments with Helen Demetriou in the kitchen.

Aside from their audience’s engagement, Ms Sevo attributes a big part of their success in such a short period to the generosity of their sponsors.

“We are fortunate that a number of wonderful sponsors have come on board to help us grow, such as Tims and Eremea Multicultural Home Care Services,” she said.

“Their support means we can remain a program dedicated to the Greek community, sharing stories that come from our community,” a sentiment echoes by one of the show’s biggest supporters, George Fokas.
“It is about the community; let’s all work together as a Greek community, and help each other,” he said.

MerakiTV airs on Aurora Channel 173 Foxtel every Monday at 7.00 pm. For those who cannot access the show on cable, replays can be found on YouTube. For more information on MerakiTV or the School Christmas Competition, visit meraki.tv/
