Australia’s most iconic motor race, the Bathurst 1000 run annually at Mount Panorama, New South Wales, has been locked in to continue running there until 2034 after a new 20 year deal was signed by V8 Supercars and the Bathurst City Council.

Although the race still has another four years to go on its existing contract, the new deal comes into play after 2014. This development further consolidates the future of V8 Supercars following last week’s announcement of a $300 million buy-in by equity firm Archer Capital. Apart from the Albert Park F1 track, Bathurst is the next most talked about circuit on the International motor racing scene and always attracts drivers from overseas who challenge themselves in Aussie tin-tops against the 6.213 kilometre mountain track.

The new contract was welcomed by Ford and Holden fans as the Bathurst 1000 has been a popular tradition for almost 50 years on the Australian motor racing calendar.
