AFL fans itching for 2015 season news got a treat this week, with the round one fixtures announced and it’s a doozy for Collingwood fans.

Brisbane’s prized recruit Dayne Beams will take on his former Collingwood team-mates in the first round of the 2015 AFL competition.

The Lions will host the Magpies at the Gabba, presenting Beams with an early reunion with Collingwood.

Beams was traded to Brisbane from Collingwood during the AFL trade period last week after requesting to return to his home state.

Richmond and Carlton will kick off the competition on Easter Thursday, April 2 at the MCG, just four days after the World Cup cricket final at the ground.

There will be no Good Friday game but Saturday’s fixtures will be headlined by the Brisbane-Collingwood clash.

Easter Sunday will see a replay of this year’s semi-final between Fremantle and Port Adelaide. Premiers Hawthorn renew its rivalry with Geelong on Easter Monday.

The AFL will release the full draw next Thursday.
