Going up against the “best footballing team in the competition”, Bentleigh Greens will have a tough time getting ahead of the Blacktown City defence.

Going into their FFA Cup match tonight with an underdog status firmly in place, the Greens are hoping for quite an upset in the City’s local territory.

The team last week managed to take three points off the league leaders and the almost impossible to beat, South Melbourne.

On Sunday, the team also managed to draw with an in form Heidelberg United 2-2, to which coach John Anastasiadis was particularly pleased with.

Having rested a couple of players for the Cup match, the team will be refreshed and ready. Bentleigh’s impressive midfield trio of Liam McCormick, skipper Wayne Wallace and Davide Cardamone will make the difference in this match, as they have during the NPL season.

Blacktown will have their secret weapons with them. Travis Major is on track to win the NSW golden boot and has appeared when Blacktown have needed a goal. He will be greatly assisted by Japanese import Ruyji Miyazawa in the midfield.

The FFA Cup tonight will also see Melbourne City début as a new club and showcase its star recruits.

Formerly Melbourne Heart, the team will take on fellow A-League club Sydney FC.

The winner will join Adelaide United and Perth Glory in the round of 16.

Western Sydney Wanderers will also play tonight, taking on NPL team Adelaide City.
