French international striker Djibril Cisse is poised to join Lazio from Greek club Panathinaikos, the Roman club's coach Edy Reja confirmed on Thursday. "(Cisse) has always been our top target, but first we need one of our strikers to find another team," said Reja.
"Usually I only talk about players who have officially been transferred, but if he does come, we'll have a player capable of making a difference." Lazio are reportedly looking to sell their Argentine forward Mauro Zarate. According to the Italian news agency Ansa, 29 year-old Cisse will arrive for a fee of six million euros and will sign a four-year contract worth 2.1 million euros per season.
The former Liverpool striker would become Lazio's sixth summer signing, after German striker Miroslav Klose, Italian goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, Albanian midfielder Lorik Cana, Bosnian full-back Senad Lulic and French full-back Abdoulay Konko.
