The process of listing the changes needed in the civil service should be completed in the next six months, Alternate Administrative Reform Minister Giorgos Katrougalos told Kathimerini.
“The reform must be effective,” he said in an interview. “But I want it to be done in six months. We have to take advantage of the momentum.”
Katrougalos said that the first legislation, including the rehiring of some 3,500 workers the government believes unjustly lost their jobs, would be ready by end-March. He also pledged to build on some of the previous government’s reforms, such as the use of e-governance.
“We want a state that will reduce social inequalities and provide a safety net,” he said. “We are against the spirit of the reforms of the past.”
