The Thessaloniki Association ‘The White Tower’ is preparing to welcome Greek composer and director Constantine Athirides.

The creator of acclaimed play Alexander the Great Rock Opera will be in Melbourne on Sunday 6 March to give an insightful presentation on his work.

Attendees will also have the chance to view a promo video of the opera, along with a discussion of the significant role played by art and entertainment in introducing the story of Alexander the Great, an integral part of Greek history.

Produced by the National Theatre of Northern Greece in 2014-2015 with an English libretto and contemporary music, Athirides’ play was performed to sold-out audiences time and time again.

Embraced wholeheartedly by audiences and critics alike, his work has been praised both for its historical integrity and for meeting high artistic entertainment standards.

Australian audiences will have the chance to experience the opera first-hand during a tour set to take place in 2017 under the Auspices of UNCESCO and the City of Thessaloniki.

The presentation will take place on Sunday 6 March at 439 High Street, Northcote, Victoria at 6.00 pm. For more information, contact secretary John Papageorgiou on 0414 368 383 or email jp.elgreco@gmail.com
