The well-known Greek music Earth Festival, that combines the green mentality with music and other events, opens today, 11 July, in the mountain community of Vlasti.

This alternative ethnic festival will be held for the 13th year in succession, from 11 to 14 July, in the village of Vlasti, Kozani, by the Cultural Society of Vlasti, in collaboration with Environmental NGO ECOTOPIA. At an altitude of 1240 m, on the plateaus of Mt. Siniatsiko, greek and international artists will create a multicultural celebration, a meeting of cultures, in an attempt to promote the unique and prove that the coexisting of cultures can only be a feast. At the same time Earth Festival is promoting a different attitude of people towards nature, with respect to the values of the environment.

The festival is a celebration of ecology that aims to transform environmental sensibility into a unique cultural experience, while promoting active participation and an alternative lifestyle.
The Earth Festival has been running since 2001, during the first 15 days of July, in the village at the heart of Western Macedonia region. It lasts 5 days and is visited by more than 10.000 visitors. This year’s Earth Festival will be once more a resistance to the commericialisation, flattening and homogenisation of art, culture and fun.
