Eleni Lianidou has been appointed as the new Consul General for Greece in Melbourne.
Ms Lianidou, who is from Athens, has a law degree from Athens Faculty of Law and joined the Athens Bar Association in 1989.
After joining the Hellenic Diplomatic Service in 1991 and the department of the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa in 1992, Ms Lianidou became the representative of Greece to the fifth committee, 47th UN General Assembly later that year.
Ms Lianidou has represented Greece as a Consul General in Pretoria, South Africa; Vancouver, Canada; and Brussels, Belgium. Her most recent position was as a RELEX counsellor of Greece to the EU, from September 2006 until December of last year.
