As part of the repertoire of the Greek Film Society of Brisbane, a movie Marseilles, a Greek Profile (Μασσαλία, μακρινή κόρη) will be screened on 29 July.

Directed by Marcos Gastine (2003, 87′), the movie is the story of two waves of Greek immigrants in the French port of Marseilles: the 19th century Greek diaspora traders, and the islanders who came as workers during WWI.

The filmmaker explores the stories through the lives and memories of present-day descendants. Marseilles, a Greek Profile is a film about the quest for identity, tracing roots and the yearning for a lost paradise.
