Greece appears among the top options of international cruise operators who are now drafting their 2014 schedules. According to the latest reports, the development has been helped by events in Egypt, as at least six Greek ports have received applications for docking from cruise operators who have cancelled calls at Egyptian ports. These ports are Crete’s Iraklio and Agios Nikolaos, Santorini, Rhodes, Katakolo in the western Peloponnese and Corfu.

Separately, Holland America Line announced in Seattle, US, on Tuesday that one of its cruises, to take place in October 2014, will begin in Piraeus, head for Kavala in northern Greece, and then to ports in Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine.

In other developments in the tourism industry, hotels search engine Trivago’s French webpage included Mykonos’s Cavo Tagoo as one of the 10 hotels with the best swimming pools worldwide.

Conde Nast Traveler’s list of the 50 best pools includes five Greek pools, of which three are in Santorini (Grace Hotel, Katikies and Alta Vista Suites), one is of the Mykonos Grace hotel and a fifth is a natural pool in the village of Astris on the island of Thassos.
