Greek Australian director and producer, Nadia Tass, was awarded Film Victoria’s highest accolade at this year’s Film Victoria Screen Leader Awards, for her outstanding contribution to the Victorian screen industry.

The ceremony, held last week in recognition of Victorian screen professionals and companies, saw the acclaimed director and producer receive the Screen Leader Award for Outstanding Leadership, Achievement and Service to the Screen Industry.

“To be acknowledged in this way means a great deal to me,” said Ms Tass. “Filmmaking is the most collaborative of all art forms and I am fortunate to have worked with such wonderful talent throughout my career and to have been able to forge a living doing something I love so much.”

With over 25 years experience in the industry and co-partner of Cascade Films since 1984, the filmmaker has been involved in some of Australia’s most loved feature films including Malcolm (1986), Rikky and Pete (1987), The Big Steal (1989), Mr Reliable (1997), Amy (1998) and the most recent Matching Jack (2010).

Attracting attention both in Australia and abroad, Tass has had retrospectives of her work screened in numerous international cities, and is currently involved in a program at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles.
