Detectives from the NSW Police Force’s Organised Crime Squad have arrested and charged a Greek man following a police operation which resulted in the seizure of more than $660,000 in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The man was stopped and arrested by detectives outside a unit block on Curlewis Street, Bondi Beach, about 4.00 pm last Friday, before a search warrant was executed inside one of the units.

During the search warrant, officers located and seized $662,000 in Australian currency.

The man – a 26-year-old from Greece – was taken to Bondi Police Station, where he was charged with recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday, where he was again refused bail to next appear at Central Local Court on 27 November 2014.

Detectives from the Organised Crime Squad’s Money Laundering Unit have been working closely with the Australian Crime Commission as part of the Eligo National Task Force.
