Spell it however you want – Kroma, Chroma, Khroma – any way it means ‘colour’ in Greek.

Lee Tillett is a hard-working Greek Australian woman. After a great deal of effort and research, in 2004 she created her own cosmetic products of ‘all-natural botanical formulas’.

She launched them under the name Kroma, reflecting the variety of tones and shades she personally formulated for her high-end cosmetic line.

Years later, the well-known Kardashian sisters came and began their own cosmetic line under the name Khroma, quickly gaining popularity and creating confusion among consumers.

Tillett took legal steps to protect her brand name long before the Kardashians ever developed theirs. Early last year, the trademark was granted for Kroma.

Tillett sued the Kardashians, demanding $10 million in damages. Under a temporary order, the Kardashian sisters’ products have been withdrawn and they have appealed.

Tillett’s story became known through her sister Paulina Christodoulou who lives in Athens. The Christodoulou family moved from Australia to the United States – to Detroit, Chicago and Florida – where Tillett lives now. And while Tillett can’t talk while there is a court dispute, her sister Paulina can – and she says she wants the diaspora on her sister’s side.
