Gridiron Gotsis signs with Atlanta

Adam Gotsis will experience his first match for Atlanta on Thursday 2 February.

29 Jan 2012

Adam Gotsis has been recruited by Georgia Institute of Technology to play Gridiron and will be playing his first game on Thursday 2 February. Hailing from Melbourne, Adam a second-generation Greek Australian, is at Georgia Tech Campus in Atlanta with his family, meeting with coaching staff and touring the facilities.

In 2011, the 6-foot-5, 295-pound defensive, represented the Australian National Team at the 2011 IFAF World Cup of American Football.

He was recommended to Georgia Tech by Paul Manera, who played for Paul Johnson and Yellow Jackets assistant Mike Sewak when they were both assistants at Hawaii.

When looking at recruiting Gotsis, Manera's report said: "I have watched Adam play and he is very competitive. He is very determined and coachable. He plays with a lot of heart, which is something you cannot measure in a weight room. He has the raw tools to excel and just needs to be in an environment where he can compete on a daily basis. He is also very coachable and I believe that he will be able to master the skills needed to play his position."

The news that Adam will be playing at such a high level, is great news for Australia and Australians who have aspirations to play college and NFL Gridiron in the USA.

In addition, Georgia Tech have made a commitment to come to Australia to recruit later this year. Other universities, such as The University Of Hawaii, are already recruiting in Australia and Oregon State are also showing interest in coming down under. In the last five years there have been four Lineman from Australia who have received full scholarships to play Division 1 College Football.
