Holden China deal
Holden and Pan Asia Technical Automotive Centre (PATAC) are to develop new vehicles for the expanding Chinese market
Holden and Pan Asia Technical Automotive Centre (PATAC) are to develop new vehicles for the expanding Chinese market.
PATAC is the new joint venture between GM and the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC) which provides automotive engineering, design, development and testing services to Shanghai General Motors and its Chinese satellite companies.
The four year partnership will see the development of at least two new vehicles from Holden's Port Melbourne base for China the world's largest car market.
The agreement has boosted Victoria's automotive manufacturing industry especially after last week's Toyota dismissals debacle.
The Victorian and Federal Governments have financially assisted Holdens' global research and development unit to remain in Victoria creating and sourcing local Holden and General Motors design projects.
