Tourists on the Greek Island of Skiathos will now think twice before parking so close to an airport runway.

Rummaging for things in their boot, some unlucky holiday makers were caught in a powerful draft of jet engine exhaust from a Monarch Airlines Boeing 757 taxing for take off at the nearby airport.

The wind from the plane ripped the open boot door right off its hinges, smashing into the roof. The whole ordeal captured on video from a nearby tourist and was posted on video sharing website Youtube about a month ago.

The runway at Skiathos airport is particularly short, narrow and in close proximity to the car park. It’s also very close to the beach, where many thrill-seeking tourists put themselves in the path of the jet exhaust. Many cling to the fences of the airport, trying to stay upright under the pressure of the wind.

Landing at Skiathos isn’t an easy task either, with many pilots receiving extra training to make the trip.
