Festival Hellenika 2015 has set an impressive program, offering a variety of musical, theatrical and cultural events alongside educational lectures. Two concerts, though, are the music highlights. Greece – Mother of Mine (Μάνα μου, Ελλάς), composed by Stavros Xarhakos, will be held at the Adelaide Festival Centre on 20 and 21 March, featuring performances by vocalists Jim Mountzouris, Stathis Papastergos, Deanne Taliangis, Stephanie Gates. The event will also feature an eight-piece band. General admission is $40.

The K.P. Kavafis By Heart and by Song concert will be staged on Tuesday 31 March at the Marion Cultural Centre, directed by Babis Koulouras. The South Australia Council for the Greek cultural month collaborates with the Kavafis Group of the Cultural Society of Upper Syros to deliver heart-gripping recitations, narrations and presentations of the Alexandrian poet’s life and work. Accompanied by eight musicians, vocalists Chryssoula Kehagioglou and Elpitha Gad will sing while Nikoleta Roussou-Kouloura narrates Kavafis’ stories. General admission is $30.

Festival Hellenika advises to book early for these events as the Greek community of South Australia is eager to attend. Tickets at Spartan Electrical (140 Henley Beach Road, Torrensville). For more information call 83524222 or 0417844140.
