With 287 games and 226 goals under his belt over a 15 year career playing for Carlton, it’s no wonder Anthony Koutoufides has been named in the club’s top 150 legends.

As part of Carlton’s 150th anniversary, the club has entrusted a group of four former players and a football historian to create a definitive list of the club’s best players under specific criteria.

To be considered, players must have played more than 50 games with five years service to the club.

The panel used on-field distinctions such as best-and-fairest awards, Hall of Fame honours, premierships, as well as individual honours such as the Brownlow Medal and Norm Smith to assist them in making the 150 shortlist.

Koutoufides ranked high on their books, having won the Leigh Matthews Trophy in 2000, the Robert Renolds Trophy in 2001 and 2005, won the best and fairest award in 2001 and in 2005, captained the team from 2004-2006, was a leading goal-kicker in 1997 and was part of the premiership team in 1995. He was also a part of the All Australian all star team in 1995 and 2000.

Also making the list are nine current Carlton players, including skipper Marc Murphy, Brownlow medallist Chris Judd, potential free agent Bryce Gibbs, Matthew Kreuzer, Kade Simpson, Andrew Carrazzo, Heath Scotland, Andrew Walker and Jarrad Waite.

The man with the most games to his name, Craig Bradley also made the list, amassing a whopping 375 games and 247 goals from 1986 to 2002.

Club president and the club’s top goalscorer, Stephen Kernahan made the list, with his 738 goals in 11 years still unmatched by any player in the sport.

Later in the year the Blues will count down the top 25 players (in order), with the top five to be unveiled at a black-tie event at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 14.

The club will also have a special celebration showcase match against Hawthorn in Round 13 and will unveil a new heritage jumper which will be worn in homes games in Rounds 7, 13 and 23 against Collingwood, Hawthorn and Essendon.
