One of the leaders of the international hotel industry, Sam Ioannidis, returns to his roots, after being appointed general manager of the new Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, the first of the luxury chain to operate in Greece.

This role will see Ioannidis, who was born in Frankfurt and has had a long, fruitful career in hospitality, mostly in Canada, North America and the UAE, return to Europe.

“In addition to his talent as a hotelier and his leadership skills, with more than two decades with Four Seasons, Sam’s recent track record of establishing a new hotel and successfully bringing it to life while embracing the local community make him the ideal candidate to introduce Four Seasons in Greece for the first time,” said Simon Casson, president, hotel operations – Europe, Middle East and Africa for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

Four Seasons have taken over the property of the famed Astir Palace, which has been a well-established brand for decades in Greece – and a landmark for the coastal suburbs of Athens.
