Is the education sector in Greece a victim of the economic recession or is it being used to become more compatible with the dominant neoliberal dogma?

That is what Greek Professor, Athina Zoniou-Sideri will tackle in the lecture, ‘The Greek educational reality in times of economic crisis: a critical appraisal’.

The lecture is a special presentation in the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria’s Greek history and culture seminars and will be conducted in Greek.

It will highlight the changes and reforms that have inevitably affected all social sectors in Greece including education.

Drastic cuts in the annual budget for education, mergers and cuts of school units, rapid labour changes for educators are just the tip of the iceberg of today’s “state of exception”.
