With the crowd behind him and after seven gruelling rounds, boxer Manny Vlamis managed a knock-out win against Thailand’s Kiatchai Singwancha last Friday.

It had been two years since Vlamis had put his boxing gloves away after an embarrassing loss in the same venue, but now the future seems bright for the former number 7 WBA Light heavyweight boxer.

He’s already booked another fight for June 27 at the Malvern Town Hall, and will hopefully be fighting for a World Boxing Championship title.

The crowd was a little anxious at Vlamis’ return when they caught a glimpse of his opponent, a fierce looking Singwancha, a former WBF World Champion himself. But throughout the rounds, it took a couple of well placed and powerful blows to get Singwancha off his feet. The duo nearly fell out of the ring and onto
the judges table when the two became locked in between blows.

Vlamis is aiming to be the second Greek boxer in the history of the sport to have won a World title since Anton Christoforidis way back in 1941. He proudly wears the Greek and the Australian flags on his shorts.

Also coming home with an impressive knock-out win was fellow Greek Australian, Terry Tzouramanis. He managed a fourth round win over Thai opponent, Manopnoi Singmanasak to take his record 12 wins 1 loss.
