Link Health and Community is opening a new facility in Oakleigh and is inviting people of all ages to attend its Open Day on 14 October.

A not-for-profit organisation, Link HC is the leading provider of health and support services in Monash. Premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews will officially open the building.

Schools and community groups have been invited to participate, with a free sausage sizzle available from midday.

The Open Day will also provide fun and informative activities for people of all ages, ranging from schoolchildren through to celebrating National Seniors Week with activities designed for senior citizens.

“Our new Oakleigh site is designed to showcase Link HC’s vast range of services available to the local community,” said Philip Moran, Link HC’s CEO. “We are looking forward to welcoming lots of new faces and explaining to the local community what we have to offer.

Health professionals including dietitians, diabetes educators, counsellors, physios, health promoters and occupational therapists will be available to chat with people on the Open Day.

“Our experienced and qualified practitioners add a wealth of expertise to link the people of Oakleigh to better health,” said Mr Moran.

“This branch further strengthens Link HC’s ability to provide a wide range of accessible, lower cost, bulk-billing and supportive programs and services for the community.”

Nick Voulanas, a Greek-speaking physiotherapist, will also join the centre along with a team of experienced GPs, podiatrists and social workers.

“I’m more than excited to be joining the Link HC team,” Dr Nick Voulanas told Neos Kosmos. “The centre will be of great benefit to the Greek and wider community, with fees for most services around $10, and bulk billing GPs.”

The new Oakleigh addition will be equipped with a gymnasium that specifically caters for older people and chronic illness patients.

The centre can be accessed from Mills Road and Haughton Road and is a short walk from the Oakleigh shopping centre.
