Last time Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC met, six goals went through but no team came out the victor.

The 3-3 draw and the 1-1 draw previously prove just how equally matched the two sides are.

Melbourne Victory might have the higher standings (they’re just one point shy of leaders Perth Glory), but Sydney FC come off the back of eight goals scored in the last two games.

Victory welcomes back captain Mark Milligan finally and sees quiet achiever Jesse Makarounas enter the front line again, giving the team a more competitive edge.

Milligan has not played for Melbourne Victory since the last Sydney FC Victory match on December 13, when he received a three-match ban for elbowing Terry Antonis.

Antonis received 10 stitches from the incident, and played the rest of the match with blurry vision, coach Graham Arnold said.

With Antonis being named for the squad in today’s match, it’ll be thrilling to see how these two will react when they come up against each other.

Graham Arnold is quietly confident the Valentines Day clash will go the club’s way.

“I think consistency wise they’ve been the best team in the competition this season and that’s what we have to do is raise our consistency,” he continued.

He says the challenge now is to mimic their last two performances.
