Victoria’s multicultural business networks were recognised last Monday as part of the Victorian Governmentís Energise Enterprise Small Business Festival.
Speaking at a “Growing a Multicultural Small Business” event in Melbourne last week, Small Business Minister Joe Helper said Victoriaís multicultural communities were vital to the success of the stateís small business exports.
“The Brumby Labor Government is taking action to encourage small business investment and growth among Victoriaís multicultural businesses,” Mr Helper said.
“Victoria is Australiaís most multicultural state and almost 30 per cent of our small business operators were born overseas and 45 per cent are either first or second generation Australians,” he added.
Mr Helper pointed out that the Victorian Government set up the Victorian Multicultural Business Advisory Council in 2001.
“The Victorian Multicultural Business Advisory Council, whose members represent multicultural chambers of commerce and business groups, plays a vital role in helping the Government to interact with Victoriaís multicultural business community,” he said.
Growing a Successful Multicultural Business was a feature event of Energise Enterprise. The annual festival features more than 400 business-related events taking place across the state to provide ideas and information for business owners, operators or anyone considering starting their own business.
