The annual Cypriot cultural connector, the NEPOMAK Discover Cyprus Program (NDCP) returns for 2015, announcing its dates and opening its applications online.

This year’s trip will take place between 6-23 July and will return to the classrooms of the University of Cyprus’ School of Modern Greek. Here, participants will undertake language classes, as well as culture, dance and history workshops. Furthermore, the program will also involve excursions to museums, monasteries and the infamous Green Line.

Accompanying the cultural side to the tour is the social element, where students unify and blend with other students from a global Cypriot diaspora. It is through the NDCP trip that students aged between 18-22, from the countries of Australia, Greece, America, England and South Africa, can unite to enhance their cultural connectivity to Cyprus, whilst also having the chance to make long lasting friendships abroad.

Furthermore, the trip is seen as a chance to enhance young foreign perspectives about the reality of Cyprus, both physically and socially. Through the trip, students are exposed to the amazing landscapes of the island, as well as its social and political reality, which can sometimes be unknown or obscured from afar.

Applications for the trip are now open and must be completed online by 1 April for successive admission. In order to be eligible, students must just be between the ages of 18-22, of Cypriot descent (meaning just one Cypriot grandparent) and must be a member of NEPOMAK, which is free. NEPOMAK also offers participants scholarships that help cover the cost of the airfare, accommodation, course fees and excursions. Candidates will only then have to pay a small contribution of their own to the total cost of the program.
