The Public Assets Department of the Greek Finance Ministry has announced the suspension of the three-year licence of Mykonos’ most popular beach bar/restaurant, Nammos.

According to the court order, the spot, notorious for its sky-high prices and for attracting the world’s rich and famous has violated the terms of its license.

The contract only allows the establishment specifically 339.6 square metres on the beach for umbrella and sunbed placement, however, the Nammos owners built an extra platform and a ramp for an event that took place on 31 August without notifying the council.

The metal and wood construction also included a stage and a staircase that took over 230 square metres more than than what the contract allowed, preventing beach-goers form accessing the site.

Moreover, the sound systems were over the 50 decibel limit for the beach.
