With Greek-Turkish relationships continuously tested, after the failed coup against Recep Tayip Erdogan and the consequent cases of dissidents crossing the borders, the news of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias planning to visit Ankara are of great importance.
The Greek Foreign Minister received an invitation to visit the Turkish capital on 24 October, through the Turkish Embassy in Athens. The official trip will take place immediately after Nikos Kotzias’ return to Athens from New York, where he will have attended the United Nations’ 72nd General Assembly.
While the full agenda of the visit has not been disclosed yet, the two countries have a lot of bilateral issues to discuss, such as the EU-Turkey agreement on refugee resettlement; the latest progress on the Cyprus issue; and the preparations for the Greece-Turkey Supreme Cooperation Council, which will take place in Thessaloniki.
