Messages of amicable and cooperative leadership were strong in this year’s leadership induction for Oakleigh Grammar held on Friday 6 February, which provided students with informative speeches from members of all levels of the leadership community.

The induction involved a whole school assembly and was attended by students, teachers and parents, as well as Hon. Ms Kelly O’Dwyer MP, Mr Angelo Sardellis of the board of management, principal Mr Mark Robertson and head of school and school captains, Victoria Balderanos and Dimitrios Gotsis.
Themes that were consistent throughout the induction’s leadership speeches included setting good example for co-peers regardless of leadership status, as well as the fair and equal treatment of others in the school community.

Federal MP Kelly O’Dwyer spoke to the academic audience about taking advantage of the new facilities and education that Oakleigh has to offer, whilst urging students to use this access to serve the local community in turn.

Amongst the leadership speeches, students were provided with an inspirational insight into the academic journey of 2014 VCE High Achiever Johnny Vogiatjis. The high achiever shared with students his story of academic perseverance which earned him results he didn’t think were possible just a few years earlier.
The 2015 Oakleigh Grammar School leaders can now anticipate a productive school year, with many opportunities to act as leaders and vital team players.
