The name of Oakleigh burger restaurant and sports bar Burgled rang true last month as a prediction for what was to come.
Two men attempted to break into the property, located on Huntingdale Road, at 12.50 am on November 6.
With the business only in its first few months of trading, it was a shock for co-owner of the business John Sarandakis.
Mr Sarandakis said that the attempted break-in, which resulted in a damaged door, may have been motivated by the valuable sports and cultural memorabilia mounted on the restaurant’s walls.
The thieves didn’t stop there, however. According to Monash CIU Constable Grant King, the same culprits stole cash and a laptop from nearby reception centre Kentavros.
