As part of the repertoire of the Greek Film Society of Brisbane, a movie One Day in August (Δεκαπενταύγουστος) will be screened on 26 August.

Directed by Constantine Giannaris (2001, 106′), the movie intertwines four parallel stories of middle-class Athenian families leaving the city for the 15 August national and religious holiday. A young immigrant breaks into their apartments and rummages through their personal belongings, discovering hidden secrets.

The film ventures beyond the comfortable surfaces of people’s lives to reveal the crises, pain and dreams beneath.
