Nico Rosberg continued Germany’s domination on the world stage, winning his first home Grand Prix at Hockenheim.

The German won ahead of Williams driver Valtteri Bottas and Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton.

It was a big week for Rosberg, who came into the race on the back of celebrating his country’s World Cup triumph in Brazil and marrying long-term girlfriend Vivian Sibold.

For Rosberg’s teammate Lewis Hamilton, it was a hard fought race to finish third, as he battled his way through the pack after starting toward the back of the grid.

“I had great fun,” Hamilton said after the race.

“I did as well as I could. It was hard to get through the pack safely… it was hard to overtake so I’m glad to get some points today.”

West Australian Daniel Ricciardo finished in sixth position, behind Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in a tight finish and teammate Sebastian Vettel, who finished fourth.
