A-League fans can be forgiven for complaining about deja vu.

Three days after Melbourne Victory took on Brisbane Roar, they are facing them again for round 26.

The extra match is thanks to the round 18 cancelled fixture due to inclement weather. But will we see a different result this time?

Victory claimed the 2-1 win on Wednesday thanks to early goals from Carl Valeri and former Roar player Besart Berisha.

Captain Mark Milligan says the team is looking much better after the game and has worked hard to get back to winning ways after the shock loss to Newcastle last weekend.

“I think we got that intensity back that we’d been lacking from the Newcastle game,” he said after the Brisbane match.

“We’ll recover tomorrow morning, we’ll have a look at this match and although it’s the same team it’s a different match on Saturday.”

This match could all but secure the Premier’s Plate for Victory. With a three-point lead at the top of the A-League and only one match left in the season, there’s a lot riding on it.

Sydney FC are just three points away from Victory and face what looks like an easy fixture against Newcastle Jets.

One win in their next two matches is all Victory needs to secure the Plate.

The final six are all but confirmed. With Perth Glory out of the finals thanks to the salary cap fiasco, Brisbane Roar gets a free ticket into the top six.

Currently sixth-placed Melbourne City will come up against a hugely deflated Glory on Sunday when they travel to nib Stadium.

It’ll be interesting to see how home fans react to the match after one of their team’s best seasons ends in humiliation and disqualification.
