The Victorian Multicultural Commission is offering scholarships to study interpreting in 12 languages at RMIT University.
Greek is one of the languages available, and students will be starting their course in 2015.
Students must be permanent residents or Australian citizens to apply, and be fluent in English and in the language of choice.
Those who are accepted into the scholarship program will receive $3,000 towards the Advanced Diploma of Interpreting.
Students will be required to pay the rest of the course fees, which differ depending on eligibility for a government-subsidised place.
Students who graduate the course and achieve at least 70 per cent in certain subjects will be eligible for Professional Interpreter accreditation through the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). The Office of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship will cover the cost of NAATI accreditation.
There will be a number of information sessions on the scholarship program in October covering all languages. The full list of languages on offer are Burmese, Greek, Italian, Khmer, Macedonian, Polish, Rohingya, Samoan, Somali, Tamil, Turkish and Vietnamese.
The first session will be on October 2 at 5:45pm at the Melbourne Multicultural Hub, 506 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne.
The second will be in Dandenong on October 9, 5:45pm Dandenong New Council Offices, Level 2, 225 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong.
The third will be in Mildura, October 21 at 6:00pm at the Sunraysia Mallee Ethnic Communities Council, 38-40 Madden Ave, Mildura.
The fourth will be in Broadmeadows on October 23 at 5:45pm at the Hume Global Learning Centre, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows.
