Perth Glory’s strong off-season recruitment drive has paved the way for more than 400 enthusiastic fans of the world game to sign up to the club’s popular ‘Soccer Schools’ holiday clinics. The club’s community department will launch the two-week program on Thursday at Subiaco AFC’s Rosalie Park in Shenton Park.

Department manager Callum Salmon said there was no doubt the strong finish to the Hyundai A-League 15/16 campaign helped attract many young Western Australians to sign up.

“The community department really enjoys the Soccer Schools program, which we host four times a year,” he said. “We see a lot of progress made in all aspects of the game, whether it’s the skills or attitude to playing, from the start of the program to its conclusion and it’s rewarding for us on the sidelines to witness as coaches.

“It’s a wonderful chance for young players to learn the skills and attitudes that we value at Perth Glory Football Club,” he added.

The Soccer Schools clinics are just one facet of the club’s community programs, which reach around 50,000 children every year.

The first of Glory’s two-day Soccer Schools programs begins this Thursday 7 July at Subiaco AFC’s Rosalie Park, where dead ball specialist Nebo Marinkovic and rising stars Kosta Petratos and Alex Grant will be in attendance.

The program then continues to Albany, Yanchep, Bunbury and Melville during the second week of the school holidays.

Soccer Schools includes expert-level coaching from the club’s community department, a number of player appearances from Glory’s Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League stars and Perth Glory merchandise giveaways.
