It’s showtime for the Hawthorn Spartans. Having been in training mode for quite some time, the new look team will prove if all the prep work has paid off on Saturday.

The club will enter their first match of the season at 11:40am Saturday April 11 against Prahran Assumption. The Spartans beat the team in last year’s preliminary final and have good odds to do it again.

Starting for the team for the first time will be ex-Carlton champion Ang Christou and ex-Hawthorn star Ang Lekkas.

The duo will be on hand to help the less experience members of the team, and provide a bit of fandom around the Spartans.

The Spartans’ have the luxury of hosting their first match on home soil and invite all fans to come down to Rathmines Reserve, Rathmines Road, Hawthorn East.

The canteen will be open with hot food, drinks, Greek sweets and Greek coffee.
