Spring is officially here.

I will do all the dry cleaning I’ve been putting off, I will attend to the half dozen pairs of shoes that require repair, ditto for clothes that need to see the tailor.

I know this because every morning for the past fortnight my husband has woken me with a series of incredibly loud and violent sneezes.

And while I do feel for my allergy-ridden husband, I am also secretly pleased that spring has finally arrived.

Because not only does it mean that I can start wearing open-toed shoes, but it also allows me to get my ‘it’s-spring-get-my-life-together’ plan into motion.

See, spring is a time of new beginnings, fresh starts and sunshine.

So with this in mind, next week I will embark on a radical plan to spring clean my life.

I will finally attend to all the major areas of my life that have been neglected and require a little TLC.

An ambitious plan I know, but the time has finally come for me to regain control over my lifestyle.

Wardrobe

A constant source of angst, my wardrobe is always cluttered, messy and utterly disorganised.

So this month I will reorganise it, moving my summer clothes to the front and the winter clothes to the back.

I will do all the dry cleaning I’ve been putting off, I will attend to the half dozen pairs of shoes that require repair, ditto for clothes that need to see the tailor.

Body/diet

Last year my religious gym attendance was motivated entirely by the fact that I had to squeeze myself into a very expensive wedding dress.

This year I have slacked off considerably.

So, starting this month I will make a commitment to go to the gym at least three times a week.

I will cook dinner at least four nights a week and at least one of those meals will be something I’ve never cooked before.

There will be salad at every meal, I will cut down on bread and I’ll start buying fruit again.

Drinking will cease for the remainder of the month.

Relationships

I will be more grateful for the relationships I have and I will walk the dogs every day.

I will also try to do more meaningful things with the people that I love.

House

I will spring clean the house, purging it of every last speck of dust (which no doubt contributes to my husband’s allergies).

I will finally buy a mop and I will vacuum under the bed.

I will fix the garden so it is no longer a horrifying jungle of weeds, but rather a place where I’d actually like to spend time.

Wish me luck!
