As the Super League takes a break thanks to Greece’s Euro 2016 qualifying match against the Faroe Islands on Friday, PAOK will have another week to get back to winning ways.

The ladder leader had its first loss of the season as Panathinaikos snatched a 2-1 win on Sunday. Second-half goals by Abdul Ajagun and Nikos Karelis sealed the fate of the match for the Greens, even if PAOK had most of the possession and fought back with a Facundo Pereyra equaliser.

The match was also praised for its fans’ behaviour as PAOK fans even applauded the 22 players after the final whistle.

Olympiakos became the real winner of the weekend as it thrashed Panthrakikos 5-1 to move closer to cutting the distance between PAOK on the league ladder.

Goals coming from Chori Dominguez, Tasos Avlonitis, Dimitris Diamantakos, Kostas Mitroglou and a Thanassis Papageorgiou own goal made the match enthralling for fans.

Jose Maria Cases pulled one back for the Komotini team that is looking for a new coach after the sacking of Akis Mantzios midweek.

Kalloni Lesvou has risen to the third spot with one of the best defensive records, coming home with a 2-0 win at Panionios thanks to strikes by Paul Keita and Juanma Delgado.
