Another year, and another round of some of the best talents that Greece has to offer visiting our shores in 2017. With Glykeria now confirmed to play at the Greek Festival in February, expect a few big names to follow.

To start with, Australia will welcome laiko star Thanasis Vasilakos, Down Under for his first tour. The 33-year-old heart throb from Thessaloniki is fresh off a tour with Nikos Vertis and ready to entertain local audiences. His energy and charisma will generate excitement among his local fan base.

The To Mandili singer is playing across Australia. His first concert will be on 25 January at Kinisi, Melbourne, followed by Pearl Nightclub in Adelaide two days later. His finale will be at Centrale Live in Sydney on 28 January, in what is already shaping up as a sell out. To add to the attraction, maestro Sypridon Metaxas, one of the top keyboard musicians in Greece will be on stage.

“I am excited to be visiting Australia. It’s always been my dream to visit. This tour will bring me closer to my fans in Australia,” Thanasis told Neos Kosmos.

With a deep love of music, including the piano, Thanasis always wanted to sing and perform. His journey has included recent memorable hits, including the crowd pleasing Apogorevete from 2012, O Proin kai o Tora (2013), Mageutika, the anthemic Apo Mena Den Glitonis (2014) and recently, To Mandili. This last tune has now been viewed on YouTube 11 million times.

Having worked with Vasilis Karras, Elena Paparizou, Christo Meniadi and many other big names across Greece, Thanasis will be in top form when he finally brings his show to Australia.

Thanasis wanted to tell his fans that he cannot contain his excitement, recently posting a video online saying, “I am waiting for you to have a great night in my company, to dance and enjoy … it will be a crazy night.”

Judging by how well his performances are received in Greece, it will be a night to remember.
