“Follow the aromas to the Red Mill Bakehouse and be prepared to be seduced by the sweet smells of freshly baked products,” is the first thing you will read about this quaint, friendly cafe and bakery, and it’s only a bite away from the truth.

Fitted out with quirky décor in the suburbs of Adelaide, this is a spot where customers can socialise in a comfortable and relaxing environment.

Established in 2006 by Dianne Diakou along with husband and wife Buddy and Sylvia Denison, the company is a business that thrives on great core family values.

“Our three driving forces have collectively injected a huge dose of inspiration through our passion and love for our loving bakehouse that has helped transform this business into something unique and rather special, even if we do say so ourselves,” the trio enthuses.

“We, together with our ever growing motivated team of little elves have decided to extend our love to Hectorville where the second shop is now open. We are very fortunate to have a team of people that have an immense amount of talent and passion to help create the speciality items in which we carry. We started off a family of three stepping into this adventure, we have managed to embrace a whole new kind of family and we love it.”

The Red Mill Bakehouse is a purveyor of fine foods and provides a unique contemporary and rustic environment from its expose to its show of art, with a menu greatly influenced by its owners’ travels across the world.

Buddy, Sylvia and Dianne have adapted what they have learnt into their culture and environment helping achieve a reputation for providing high quality products with exceptional customer service. The food is all baked on premises, “from the decorating right down to the cracking of each individual egg”.

The team take pride in being coffee snobs and doing everything the “authentic home baking style”, only using the freshest of ingredients to bring only the tastiest food to the table.

“We love great espresso coffee and if it’s not a perfect cup you won’t see it. We do our absolute best to achieve the best grind and the best pour every single time. Our beautiful baristas make a fierce coffee made with love, care and attention with some beautiful latte art to complement each coffee.

“Start off your lunch with one of our premium meat pies which have been slowly cooked to give the desired tenderness to tantalise your tongue, then indulge in one of our many desserts, be it a good old traditional éclair right down to one of the Greek favourites.”

Their Greek sweet speciality in a long list of options is kataifi, but they also have baklava, galaktoboureko (another custard-filled pastry) and kourabiethes (Greek sugar-coated biscuits). Vegan options such as chocolate brownies and coconut, carrot and date slices are available as well.
