Matthew Brabham, the 19 year old grandson of triple Formula 1 world champion Sir Jack Brabham, raced way to his second successive title in the IndyCar’s development program last week when he was Pro Mazda champion after winning both races at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Canada.

The victory took Brabham’s tally to a record 11 wins in 2013, with two races in the championship still to run. He also holds the record for the most consecutive wins in a season at seven, the most podiums in a season at 13, and is tied for the number of fastest race laps in a season at 11.

Young Brabham has earned himself a scholarship to advance to next year’s Indy Lights series which is traditionally the last and final step towards securing a seat to drive in the elite IndyCar championship. By taking out this year’s series he has become the first driver to graduate after winning the 2012 USF2000 and 2013 Pro Mazda titles in succession.

Matthew Brabham’s, father Geoff who began his motor racing career driving karts at the age of seven, went on to win the Le Mans 24 Hours race and was a four time IMSA champion.
