In a bid to steer readers into a healthier direction post-holiday season, The Age’s Good Food collated its ‘Top 10 clean living food and drink experiences to have in Melbourne this summer’.

Featuring highly on the list was none other than Transformer. Based in Fitzroy, the vegetarian eatery is owned by restaurateur Laki Papadopoulos, best known for the Vegie Bar.

Since opening its doors last year, the eatery has gone from strength to strength, with locals and visitors alike enjoying the up-scale vegetarian experience.

Papadopoulos was one of the first to have wholesome eating on his radar when he opened Vegie Bar some 20 years ago, and attributes his Greek migrant parents as his main influence.

He recalls growing up eating a healthy peasant diet, low in animal products and high in quality and freshness.

Also featuring on the list for some nutritious food and drink options across Melbourne were Patch Cafe, Tofu Shop International, Combi, Ayomo, Moroccan Soup Bar, Smith & Deli, Serotonin Eatery, Walk Don’t Run and Raw Trader.
