Running from 1-31 August this year, Small Business Festival Victoria celebrates the State’s innovative small business community, including the increasing number of entrepreneurs from culturally.

The Festival features over 300 free and low cost events across Melbourne and regional Victoria, designed to provide small business owners with new skills to start or grow their business.

This year’s program includes a number of events tailored for Victoria’s diverse communities.

Cynthia Balogh, Chair of the Multicultural Business Ministerial Council states that one of the biggest stumbling blocks for business owners from culturally diverse backgrounds is the lack of awareness of support available to them.

“Many small business owners from multicultural backgrounds remain unaware of government grants, mentoring and many other services available to assist them in business.

The advice that business owners receive and the networks they develop through the festival could be the difference in creating a successful, sustainable business model,” she said.

According to the organisers, events of interest to multicultural entrepreneurs include:

– Traps for Multicultural Entrepreneurs and How to Fix Them

– Refugee and Migrant Small Business Success Stories

– Can International Students Help Build Your Export Business?

– Multicultural Business Breakfast

– Social Media for Multicultural Communities

The multicultural business advisors will be available at the Festival Hub in Federation Square Saturday and on August 15.

The festival is coordinated by Small Business Victoria in collaboration with government agencies, industry groups, businesses and private sector organisations.
