Now in their 16th year, Victoria's Multicultural Awards for Excellence are presented by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, honouring individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to strengthening Victoria's multicultural community.
The awards are presented to individuals who value diversity, including people from migrant and refugee backgrounds who have made a positive impact in strengthening multiculturalism as well as to organisations that promote cross-cultural understanding, support new Australians, celebrate and enhance social cohesion.

"Victoria's multiculturalism is one of our state's greatest assets and touches our lives every day," VMC Chair, Helen Kapalos said.
"It enhances the diversity of skills and knowledge we bring to our work, and enriches the cultural life of our cities and towns. It also helps foster acceptance and understanding of one another, and promotes a spirit of sharing and celebration that supports our Victorian values."

Nominations are now open and invited across 10 award categories, highlighting paid and voluntary work in the areas of business, government, education, youth, media and policing. Nominations must include a 600-1000 word Statement of Support addressing specific questions detailed on the nomination form, in addition to the contact details of two referees. In certain categories, individuals and organisations can nominate themselves. The awards will be presented at a ceremony later in the year to be attended by high-profile Victorian dignitaries, community leaders and the families and friends of recipients.
