Later next month, Sydney’s Belvoir St Theatre will house the production of the Greek tragedy inspired play Elektra/Orestes.
Drawing on the story of the House of Atrius, audiences will bear witness to an endless cycle of each generation trying to solves the problems of the previous generation, no doubt impacted by the generation before that.
Playwright Anne-Louise Sarsks teams up with playwright Jada Alberts to pose two very important questions: Who is responsible for the state of things? And what can any one of us do about it?
The play follows a family – a mother, brother, and two sisters – as they attempt to decipher and make sense of the world around them, taking extreme measures in their endeavour to make everything ‘right’.
Presenting a contemporary take on an old tragedy, actor Hunter Page-Lochard stars as a modern day Orestes, while the role of Elektra is played by Katherine Tonkin.
Prepare to be confronted by the cycle that is love, justice and revenge in a disordered world of natural disaster and war.
