A 'Good Move' for Melburnians

A new advertising initiative to promote the 'good life' available to Melburnians who decide to relocate to rural Victoria has been launched this week

A new advertising initiative to promote the 'good life' available to Melburnians who decide to relocate to rural Victoria has been launched this week by Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan.

Named the 'Good Move' campaign, this scheme is based on research recently conducted on Melbourne residents which revealed that many are considering such a move. Mr. Ryan said: 'The research showed that one in ten Melburnians were considering a move to country Victoria within the next three years and a further 39 per cent would consider it at some stage in the future.

This campaign aims to build on that momentum and get people to take the next step.'

The television commercials began screening on free to air stations on Sunday, and present real-life examples of Victorians who have recently relocated. 'In particular, the advertisements highlight some of the reasons why relocating to the country is such a good move for work, family, community and overall quality of life', Mr. Ryan said.

These advertisements follow the recent popularity of the first Regional Victoria Living Expo on 27-29 April at the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre, which had over 8000 visitors interested in embarking on a rural lifestyle.

'Organisers and exhibitors alike were absolutely thrilled with the success of the expo and the genuine enquiries from people wanting to know more about the opportunities that await them outside the big city.'
